1. What happens at the beginning of the movie? What test does Beatrice have? For what reason?
At the beginning of the movie happened that a girl called Beatrice Prior lived in a society, which decided to group people into five factions, to try to eradicate the evils that led to war. At sixteen years old, all children had to take a test that would determine which of the five factions they belonged to. Beatrice's test indicated that she was a divergent, that it is to had all the factions, therefore it was a danger to society so she should keep that information hidden.
At the moment of deciding which faction, she chose Dauntless and left Abnegation, but she was not entirely sure if her choice was correct.
2. What is a "divergent"?
A divergent is a person who achieves two or more results in the Aptitude Test, making it extremely dangerous for the system, since by nature they are rebellious to established currents, and are very smart. They have all the features.
3. Describe in detail the different factions.
Abnegation: Is the faction that values the needs of others above the needs of oneself. They take over the public services in the city. Abnegation is the most incorruptible due to their commitment to selflessness. Abnegation's colour is grey. Their style of dress is conservative, loose-fitting grey clothing so as not to call attention to themselves. The only accessory they are allowed to wear is a plain watch.
Erudite: Is the most intelligent faction. Their style of dress must wear at least one blue article of clothing at a time because blue causes the brain to release calming chemicals which attest to their saying, "a calm mind is a clear mind.".
Dauntless: Is considered the strong soldiers of the factions. Dauntless are those who are brave, seeming almost fearless. They strive to become courageous and indestructible. Dauntless' color is black. Members of Dauntless dress in tight-fitting dark or black clothing that aids in their lifestyle of battle and training. Dark makeup, tattoos, and piercings are also recommended for all members. To get to their base they jump on and off a train every day.
Amity: Members of Amity value peace and harmony above all else. The people of Amity are dressed in red or yellow, though their faction only dictates they wear some amount of the colors. Styles are loose and comfortable. Amity members are happy people, children are seen playing hand clapping games and singing songs.
Candor: Members value honesty above all else. A member of Candor can be recognized from their black and white clothing (a visual representation of the black-and-white they see in truth). Through the years, the Candor faction provided the people with trustworthy and sound leaders in law. They are very truthful, sometimes to the point of being tactless. They believe that charm is unnecessary and politeness is deception in pretty packaging. According to Christina (a friend of Tris and a member of Erudite), Candor acts according to the idea that if the person reveals all his secrets, he has no desire to lie about anything because the worst is already in the open. Although Candor values honesty the most, they also seek to develop impartiality.
Factionless: There is one more group that is not part of the social classes or factions. These are the people who failed to complete their initiation into whatever faction they chose and live in poverty, doing the work no one else wants to do. They are the janitors, construction workers, and garbage collectors. They are the ones who make fabric, operate trains and drive buses. In return for their work, they get food and clothing. They live in places like collapsed roads, empty subways full of trash and sewage. Because of this, they are often given food and clothing from the Abnegation. It is later found that they have the highest number of Divergent. They wear mixed clothing from other factions. The Factionless also include elderly Dauntless.
4. Which are the initiation tests in Tris's faction?
The first initiation test in Tris's faction (Dauntless) is climb a large metal sculpture and jump into a moving train, and then jump off that train into a rooftop. After that, they must jump off a seven story building to get into the Dauntless compound.
Then, they have to learn how to be tough and fearless in the time being in the Dauntless Faction.
And finally, they play a game of capture-the-flag, but this does not improve or demote one's ranking.
5. What does Tris learn about her society? what does she plan to do about it?
Tris learns that ver society was discriminating the divergents and Erudite was planning to kill the world by controlling the Dauntless. Tris and Four planned to escape with all the divergents and start a new society.
6. What happens at the end of the movie? Explain.
At the end of the movie, Tris, Four and the Dauntless escape on a train and they go outside the world to start their own society.
7. How do you think the movie will continue. Give you own predictions.
Tris, Four and the divergents, when boarding a train and leaving as shown at the end of the movie, they go to another place, far away from there. Time later they settle and start their life away from everyone, alert and prepared, in case they would find them.
